Fundraising Coordinator 
15 hours per week
Salary: £23739 pro rata (£10173 for 15 hours)

An enthusiastic, creative and self-starting fundraiser is needed to lead on community and grants fundraising at our learning disability charity, Barnet Mencap. 

Barnet Mencap provides advice, information and support for people with learning disabilities and people with autism or Aspergers as well as their family carers in the London Borough of Barnet. We are looking to recruit a talented fundraiser to join our passionate team, based in Finchley, and implement an exciting new fundraising strategy.  

As Fundraising Coordinator, you will be using your communications skills and ability to inspire people to support our organisation to encourage fundraising by clients, volunteers, local businesses and schools. You will also be identifying and pursuing fundraising from trusts and grant making organisations.

Underpinning all of this, you will work closely with our project staff so that your fundraising efforts are based on close knowledge of the results our services are achieving.

Success in your role will help Barnet Mencap in its delivery of a range of services for people with autism and their families.

Community Services Deputy Manager  
35 hours per week (5 days)
Salary: £25,714 gross per annum

This highly successful service enables young people and adults with learning disabilities and/or autism to access a wide range of community based leisure and learning opportunities.

We are currently looking for a focussed individual with excellent interpersonal skills to assist the Community Services Manager in the day to day running and development of the service.

The successful applicant will have:

  • an interest in working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • an interest in development work
  • excellent organisational skills
  • be able to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • excellent IT skills
  • a working knowledge of health and safety issues

Community Support Worker
Salary: £20,232

We are dynamic, expanding, and looking for focused individuals to join our enthusiastic and diverse team.  We support adults with moderate learning disabilities and/or autism to live independently in housing situations of their choice.   The job offers a challenge and satisfaction and will suit someone who meets the following:

You must:

  • have experience of working with adults with learning disabilities and autism in a community setting
  • have a good working knowledge of safeguarding issues facing people with learning disabilities and autism
  • be a good team member
  • understand the issues faced by people with learning disabilities and autism living independently and have the skills to meet their practical, social and emotional needs
  • have a ‘Person Centred Planning’ ethos

‘As and When’
Sessional Project Workers
Salary: £10.58 per hour

Working with adults/ young people/ children with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism

We are looking for people who have a few hours or more a week to spare and are able to work with individuals or groups on an occasional or regular basis. This could be in the community for one of our leisure projects, or supporting an individual.

The sessions, normally between 1 and 4 hours long, could take place in the day, evening and/or at the weekend or during school holidays.

You may be working alone or alongside other workers and volunteers.

You will:

  • be highly motivated and have a genuine interest in working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
  • have good communication skills and the ability to keep written records
  • be able to accept responsibility for either groups or individual service users and, in some cases, supporting  volunteers
