‘As and When’
Sessional Project Workers
Salary: £10.47 per hour

Working with adults/ young people/ children with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism or Aspergers

We are looking for people who have a few hours or more a week to spare and are able to work with individuals or groups on an occasional or regular basis. This could be in the community for one of our leisure projects, or supporting an individual.

The sessions, normally between 1 and 4 hours long, could take place in the day, evening and/or at the weekend or during school holidays.

You may be working alone or alongside other workers and volunteers.

You will:

  • be highly motivated and have a genuine interest in working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism or Aspergers.
  • have good communication skills and the ability to keep written records
  • be able to accept responsibility for either groups or individual service users and, in some cases, supporting  volunteers

Bank Support Workers - Rate of pay: £9.51 per hour

Sherrick House provides a Short-term Break Service for adults who have learning and physical disabilities. This includes holidays and community respite.      

We are looking for motivated individuals to work on a relief basis. You will need to be positive and person centred. You must be able to work effectively as part of a team and be able to work using your own initiative. You will promote independence, inclusion and wellbeing.

You will have:

  • a minimum of one year’s experience of working with adults with learning and physical disabilities in a residential or community setting, ideally with an NVQ qualification in care
  • a commitment to working in partnership with people with learning disabilities and their families

You must be able to:

  • maintain records and write reports
  • attend training and meetings as requested
  • work mornings, evenings, weekends
  • be committed to anti-discriminatory practice
